Certificates and Unit Standards
Most 4WD Training companies offer some kind of certificate to recognise the program that trainees have completed. These Certificates do not in themselves always indicate proficiency or competence. That usually require ongoing practice in the work or play environment. It can also need to be regularly back up by a refresher course usually offered by the 4WD training company.
Unit Standards for off road driving are a prescribed list of functions or activities demonstrated by the driver on a 4WD training course to prove the driver has reached a proficiency to safely drive off the sealed road. Often insurance companies will ask what training and to what level the driver after an accident has achieved. The passing of the appropriate Unit Standard is usually proof that at that time the driver had achieved the standard.
This has reached grater prominence in recent times too with the ever changing and importance of meeting both Health and Safety Guidelines and Regulations.
Parkley Off Road can arrange for Training companies that specialise in Unit Standard Training to organise a program for you or your organisation.
